Week 4: Assemble Quilt Top

Welcome to Week 4 of the Grid View Quilt Sew Along (SAL)! This week, we sew our blocks into rows and rows into the quilt top. Ekk, this sew along went by quickly. Thank you for hanging with me the last four weeks; my hope for you is that you picked up a new technique along the way.

Week 4 Assignment: Assemble Quilt Top

This week we wrap up our sew along by assembling the quilt top. First, we will sew our rows and then sew them into the quilt top.

Time Management

• Katie’s total time to complete Week 3 Assignment: 1 hour and 10 mins

  • Sew Rows 1 + 3 + 5 = 25 minutes

  • Sew Rows 2 + 4 = 10 minutes

  • Assemble Rows into Quilt Top = 35 minutes

Favorite Tools

• Oliso ProPlus Smart Iron

• Quilting Ruler Stripology XL (saves me half the time)

Sew Rows

• Remember, consistency is key throughout each stitch and step. Examples would be keeping the needle position the same throughout the quilt top or using the same rulers, iron, etc.

• Press seams in the same direction

• The best tip for sewing rows is demonstrated in the Grid View Quilt Pattern: Introduction + Techniques video below at minute 19:45.

Assemble Rows into Quilt Top

• Take your time to pin and nest seams when possible.

• Press seams open
